The Bighorn sheep is an amazing animal that inhabits the high mountain
peaks of the Rocky Mountains. Actually a species of goat, both sexes
have true horns (which means that the animals keep them year round and
don't shed them). In the Fall, one can often hear the distinctive
sound of the ram's heads colliding with each other as they do battle
during the rut. Please scroll down to see
other sound hole options.
Since our line of flat mandolins is named for
Montana trees, the A line is named for Montana mountains, and the F line
is named for Montana rivers, we had to find another category to name this
2 point after because it's neither an A or an F.
Since the points reminded us of horns the name Bighorn or Elkhorn
came to mind, so now we have a new category. Is this a fancy A
style, or a toned down F style? It all depends on your point of
view.
Potato/Potahto. The standard for this mandolin is F holes, but we
often make them with a D hole, or a standard oval sound hole. |
