Specifications
The original name of
the Crow Indian Tribe, loosely translated to mean "The People".
There are two ways to pronounce
this word. One way is phonetically (Ab-sa-ROH-ka). The other common
pronunciation is
Ab-SOR-ka.
The Absaroka mountain range covers nearly a million acres, and contains two national forests.
It is part of the
Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness Area which encompasses the lower 48's
largest single expanse of land above 10,000 feet, and contains Granite
Peak, Montana's highest point at 12,799 feet. |
