I
am a long time guitar player who decided to take up the mandolin about a
year and 1/2 ago. I purchased an inexpensive beginner mandolin and began
to attend local bluegrass jams. It wasn’t long before I began to search
for a good, moderately priced mandolin. I heard several Flatiron mandolins
played by folks at the local jams. The sound and quality of those
instruments were impressive and with luck, I found a brand new, 1995
Montana made Festival F at Honest Ron’s Guitars in Oklahoma City. What a
stroke of luck and what a great instrument. When I decided to take
another step up, I had to go with the folks that had made my Flatiron.
After several calls to Paula Lewis and Honest Ron’s, I ordered my custom
Yellowstone. It’s a great mandolin with a sound that easily compares to
more expensive instruments. And what great customer service. Paula
couldn’t have be nicer or more patient as I decided what custom goodies my
mandolin should have. I continue with my struggle to learn a new
instrument late in life, but am having a great time doing so. And most
importantly, that Yellowstone really looks good and probably makes my
chops sound better than they really are |
