It's been a great ride. I grew up listening to my dad
pick out old Irish fiddle tunes on an antique Martin punkin bug style
mandolin. I flunked out of guitar lessons in elementary school and then my
mom forced me into piano lessons. I begged for a drum set and found my
musical home there as I made my way through high school.
During Christmas break of my first year of college, I
came home and was bored one evening so picked up the old Martin punkin
bug. My dad showed me the G scale and my passion was born. Thirty years
and five mandolins later my incredible wife presents me with this gorgeous
Weber Yellowstone as a Christmas gift. (yeah boys, eat your heart out) It
sounds fantastic and plays like butter. I love it.
I am
blessed with a great musical community. I play in our worship band at
church and love contemporary, gospel and traditional Christian
music. I also play in the highly acclaimed Los
Vaqueros Hunting Club Traveling Band. We do country, a little bluegrass
and the odd Irish jig. We are in great demand at luaus, bank openings and
campfire sing-alongs. Most of what we are paid gets donated back to local
fundraising efforts.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Mary and Bruce
Weber on the phone the other day. What a combination - very nice folks,
great customer service and awesome instruments.
