SJ
McArdle is an Irish singer-songwriter and sometime session musician from
Drogheda, Co. Louth. He has been playing mandolin for about 5 years. He
plays a Hyalite A-style with a retrofit cast tailpiece and Wood Nymph
harmonic suppresser. It can be heard on record with Ricky Warwick (on his
"Tattoos And Alibis" album, produced by Def Leppard's Joe Elliott), Peter
Johnson, Reynardine and on his own debut album, "Lancelot". Live, it has
accompanied the Divine Comedy's Neil Hannon and Nashville's Bob Cheevers,
among others.
SJ
was originally just a guitar player, but listening to Bill Monroe, Ronnie
McCoury, Richard Thompson and REM's Peter Buck meant that mandolin was
something he'd always wanted to try. When he did, something just clicked.
